Ophthalmic Optics / Optometry (AOB)

The Department of Applied Sciences and Mechatronics offers in cooperation with the Fachschule für Augenoptik (FFA) Munich a dual course of study in Ophthalmic Optics / Optometry. This four and one-half year program provides both the professional qualification as a Journeyman in Optometry as well as the academic title of Bachelor of Science (B. Sc.) in Ophthalmic Optics / Optometry.


Seeing is one of the most important sensory perceptions of man. In order to meet the ever-increasing demands on visual tasks, innovative, practice-oriented basic competence is indispensable. This future-oriented course of study is becoming even more important due to the increasing life expectancy of the population and the additional medical component of the training considerably expands the field of activity.
